OPERATED INLAND WATERWAYS OF NATIONAL IMPORTANCE OF THE REPUBLIC OF LITHUANIA
There are 822 km of inland waterways of national importance of the Republic of Lithuania, 435 km of them are being operated. In 1997 the Republic of Lithuania signed European Agreement on Main Inland Waterways of International Importance (AGN agreement), according to which inland waterways of the River Nemunas and the Curonian Lagoon from Kaunas to Klaipeda are inland waterway of international importance E41 (the length – 291.2 km). All navigation period along the E41way there has to be maintained indicators as it is defined by waterways network main standards and parameters description TRANS / SC.3 / 144 of the United Nations Economic Commission. For the E41 waterway section from Klaipėda to Jurbarkas there are set these measurements: length of vessel – 100m, beam – 10m, depth of the waterway – 1,5m (draught not more than 1.3m); for the section from Jurbarkas to Kaunas: length of vessel – 100m, beam – 10m, depth of waterway – 1,2m (draught not more than 1,00m).
The navigation period in operated inland waterways of national importance is 206 days from 16th of April to 7th of November. In comparison with 2018, in 2019 state enterprise Inland Waterways Directorate increases the length of operated inland waterways of national importance by 5,3 km.

DRUSKININKAI – LIŠKIAVA
The River Nemunas
The length of section of inland waterways of national importance is 11km. The fairway along this section is marked out by navigational non-luminous signs – buoys.

There are two stationary piers in this section – “Naujasis uostas” and “Druskininkų stacionari keleivinė prieplauka“.
ŽEMAITKIEMIS – BIRŠTONAS
The River Nemunas
The length of section of inland waterways of national importance is 20 km. The fairway along this section is marked out by non-luminous navigational signs – hazard markers.

BIRŠTONAS – KAUNO HPP AND BRANCH TO RUMŠIŠKĖS
The River Nemunas
The length of section of inland waterways of national importance is 63km. The fairway along section of 24km from Kaunas HPP to Kruonis PSP is marked out by luminous navigational signs – buoys, and the fairway along section of 39km from Kruonis PSP to Birštonas and branch to Rumšiškės is marked out by non-luminous navigational signs – buoys.

The main piers of this section is „Birštono stacionari“, „Kauno Žalgirio jachtklubas“ ir „Kauno motorlaivių“, „Kauno marių prieplauka“.
KAUNAS WHARF – JURBARKAS AND WATER AREA OF KAUNAS INLAND WINTER PORT
The River Nemunas
The length of section of the inland waterways of national importance is 88.3 km. The fairway along the section of 20.5 km from Kaunas to Kulautuva is marked out by luminous navigational signs – buoys, and along the section of 67.8 km from Kulautuva to Jurbarkas is marked out by non-luminous navigational signs – buoys.
This section of inland waterway of national importance is part of inland waterway of international importance E41.

In this section there is the Kaunas winter port of inland waters, the Marvelė wharf, the Kaunas passenger pier, “Senoji prieplauka No.2” (by Vytautas the Great Church), Kačerginė, Zapyškis, Kulautuva, Vilkija mobile piers, etc.
JUBARKAS – THE MOUTH OF THE RIVER ATMATA AND WATER AREA OF UOSTADVARIS INLAND PORT
The River Nemunas
The length of section of inland waterways of national importance is 126 km. The fairway along section of 113 km from Smalininkai to Atmata mouth is marked out by luminous navigational signs – buoys, and the fairway along section of 13km Jurbarkas to Smalininkai is marked out by non-luminous navigational signs – buoys.
Noteworthy, that the section of 100 km in the River Nemunas from Smalininkai to Rusnė is a border with the Russian Federation. Along this borderland the right side of the fairway (in the Republic of Lithuania) is marked out by luminous navigational signs – buoys, and left side of the fairway (in the Russian Federation) is marked out by non-luminous navigational signs – buoys. Therefore, users of inland water transport, navigating in the dark, should be very attentive.

THE MOUTH OF THE RIVER ATMATA – KLAIPĖDA STATE SEAPORT AND BRANCH TO NIDA
The Curonian Lagoon
The length of section of inland waterways of national importance is 65.3 km. The fairway along this section is marked out by luminous navigational signs – buoys.
This section of inland waterway of national importance is part of inland waterway of international importance E41.

In this section there is inland waters passenger port of Nida, the passenger pier of Nida, where it is established Nida border crossing point, the pier in Juodkrantė.
THE PORT OF NIDA – THE BORDER OF THE REPUBLIC OF LITHUANIA
The Curonian Lagoon
The length of section of inland waterways of national importance is 4 km. The fairway along this section is marked out by non-luminous navigational signs – buoys.
This section of inland waterway of national importance is part of inland waterway of international importance E70 and connects inland waterways of the Republic of Lithuania and the Russian Federation.

Mituva Channel
The length of section of inland waterways of national importance is 1 km. The fairway along this section isn’t marked out.

The River Neris
The length of section of inland waterways of national importance is 0.5 km. The fairway along this section is marked out by luminous navigational signs – buoys.

THE MOUTH OF THE RIVER NEVĖŽIS – 14,5 KM FROM THE MOUTH
The River Nevėžis
The length of section of inland waterways of national importance is 14.5 km. The fairway along this section is marked out by non-luminous navigational signs – buoys.

In this section there is the mobile pier of Raudondvaris.
THE MOUTH OF THE RIVER MINIJA – LANKUPIAI
The River Minija
The length of section of inland waterways of national importance is 19 km. The fairway along this section is marked out considering the condition of the river bed.

Turning radius – 160 m
In this section there is “Minijos jachtų ir pramoginių laivų“ pier and etc.
Pay attention, sailing through the village Mingė, it is forbidden to cause waves and to exceed the speed limit of 5 km/h.
THE RIVER MINIJA – THE RIVER DREVERNA
The King Wilhelm Channel
The length of section of inland waterways of national importance is 10 km. The fairway along this section is marked out considering the condition of the King Wilhelm Channel.

Width – 20 m
Turning radius – 160 m
Pay attention, while sailing this channel it is not allowed to exceed the speed limit of 5 km/h. There is fitted sluice of Lankupiai which is the object of cultural heritage.
THE KING WILHELM CHANNEL – THE RIVER DREVERNA
The River Dreverna
The length of section of inland waterways of national importance is 1.9 km. The fairway along this section is marked out considering the condition of the river bed.

Depth – 1,20 m
Width – 20 m
Turning radius – 160 m
Pay attention, while sailing this section it is not allowed to exceed the speed limit of 5 km/h. There is fitted sluice in the River Dreverna, which width is only 3.2 m, so only vessels with limited beam are able to sail.
In this section there is stationary pier of Dreverna, where from vessels are able to sail to the Cucorian Lagoon.
